According to a report, Apple's second generation of AirPods Pro will not include fitness tracking features. The next version will focus on audio rather than health-related features.
In the rumors surrounding the AirPods Pro 2, there was occasional talk of Apple equipping the audio devices with some kind of fitness tracking function. Specifically, it was claimed that the premium earphones could monitor body temperature and heart rate. Now it is suspected that the fitness functions will not necessarily come with the 2022 update.
AirPods Pro 2 to be released in fall 2022
In Bloomberg’s “Power On” newsletter writes Mark Gurman that the AirPods Pro 2022 "probably won't get heart rate tracking." Regarding the rumors about the ability to monitor the wearer's heart rate or body temperature, Gurman says:
It is unlikely that both features will be included in the 2022 upgrade.
While they're unlikely to appear, Gurman adds that both improvements "have been explored within the company and could appear one day." Other rumors about the AirPods Pro 2 say that new features could include a microphone in the charging case, a hearing aid function, and a case speaker that emits sounds for the "Find My" network.
