Rumors about the AirPods Pro 2 have been with us for many months. Now, for the first time, plans regarding the AirPods Max have been discussed.
Rumours suggest that Apple will introduce the second generation of AirPods Pro in the fall, which will feature a new design, improved audio quality and possible health integration, at least that's what Mark Gurman claims in the latest output his “Power On” newsletter for Bloomberg.
Look for new AirPods Pro in the fall. The current model has been out since fall 2019, so batteries are probably already in trouble for some early adopters. Also look for an update to the AirPods Max with new colors (and hopefully a price drop—$550$ is absurd for these headphones).
In addition to AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Max will also be released in new colors
The AirPods Pro have not been updated since their launch in 2019, with various rumors pointing to an update this year. Gurman's claim of a fall launch is consistent with information from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who expects a launch in the second half of the year. The new AirPods Pro could feature a more compact design that eliminates the stem, a new charging case, and lossless audio support via a new protocol. As for the AirPods Max, the company is not expected to develop the second generation. Instead, Apple is believed to be working on new color variants. Gurman said today that the new colors are still being worked on, but would not give a timeline for the launch.
