Apple is reportedly planning to provide authorized service partners with a new tool for testing AirPods. Now, images have surfaced that are said to show the new device.
According to anonymous Apple leaker Fudge, Apple wants to develop a new diagnostic tool for the first and second generation AirPods provideThe device basically works like the iPhone audio test and is intended to help determine in the future whether the AirPods are contaminated or actually defective.

The tool is designed to help prevent unnecessary replacement. The device is designed to verify contamination even when it is not visible to the naked eye. The test process uses a iPhone with a special app that delivers the result at the end.

According to Fudge, the tool can currently only test first and second generation AirPods by pointing them at the iPhone's microphone. However, it is not known when support for the Pro version of the popular earbuds will be available. Do you want new headphones?
