Although there has been a lot of talk about new AirPods lately, it doesn't seem like the earbuds will actually be getting an update anytime soon.
Accurate leaker l0vetodream has confirmed a recent report by Ming-Chi Kuo that the AirPods 3 will not go into mass production until the second half of the year. Kuo explained that the third generation AirPods are in development but the supply chain is not preparing to go into mass production before Q3 2021. This means that the new audio accessories will not be released in the next few weeks. The anonymous leaker l0vetodream has now confirmed the same in his usual cryptic manner with a Contribution confirmed on his Weibo account.
AirPods 3: Rumors contradict each other
The leaker has previously predicted that the first Apple Silicon Macs would be the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, the exact iPad Air case colors, the launch of the smaller HomePod mini, the correct names of the iPhone 12 lineup, and other topics. So it can be assumed that he will be right in this case too. Based on previous reports, the AirPods 3 are expected to have largely the same design as the AirPods Pro. However, silicone attachments and active noise cancellation are not part of the specifications. There is currently a rumor going around that Apple will hold an event next week. The AirPods 3 should be presented at this event. At least that is what other sources and YouTuber Jon Prosser have claimed. However, since Kuo and l0vetodream are more reliable, it can be assumed that this will not be the case. (via 52audio)
