As expected, Apple introduced watchOS 8 at WWDC 2021. Find out what features the new Apple Watch update brings below.
Apple has announced the upcoming operating system update for the Apple Watch called watchOS 8. The Breathe app is now part of the Mindfulness app on the Apple Watch. Apple has also added a new animation to the Breathe screen during the exercise.
Sleep & Fitness+
The Sleep app now tracks breathing rate, a health metric that helps users determine the quality of their nightly sleep. Apple has also added two new workouts to the Fitness app - Tai Chi and Pilates. These workouts are also included in the new Apple Fitness+ sessions that will be available to users in the fall.

watchOS 8: Photos & Messages
The Photos app has a new iPhone-like design with a mosaic layout, reminders, and featured photos. Users can navigate through the app with the Digital Crown and select images with a tap. The sharing feature in Photos has also been improved, allowing users to share an image via iMessage or Mail. When sending a message, users can control the cursor with the Digital Crown. Apple has also added a Gif search within the Messages app.
Apple Wallet
Apple Wallet on Apple Watch now stores hotel room keys, car keys with UWB, and now ID cards in select countries.
With a State ID on your iPhone and Apple Watch, you can securely present your ID at places like airports with a tap.
House keys will also become a part of Apple Wallet. Users will soon be able to store their house key directly in Wallet to unlock the door more easily. House keys will allow the Apple Watch or iPhone to unlock their front door with a tap.
