Paid iCloud subscriptions will soon have access to an enhanced “iCloud+” feature that includes a Private Relay VPN, a new “hide” email feature, and support for unlimited HomeKit secure video cameras.
Apple saidthat paid iCloud subscriptions will include iCloud+, launching later this year, at no additional cost. The new Private Relay feature essentially acts as a VPN, allowing users to browse Safari in a more secure and private way. Apple noted that network providers and websites combine users' identities and browsing history to create a profile, which is something Private Relay is designed to prevent. By using Private Relay, traffic leaving a user's device is encrypted and passed through two internet relays. This means that no one - including Apple - can see who a user is or what websites they visit.
iCloud+ supports secure HomeKit video cameras
The new "hide" email feature will be integrated into Mail, Safari, and iCloud settings and will allow users to set up as many temporary email addresses as they need and delete them at any time. iCloud+ will also offer built-in support for HomeKit secure video cameras, allowing users to connect an unlimited number of cameras. Any footage saved to iCloud+ will not count toward the user's iCloud storage. Apple's iCloud service will continue to offer Photos, Backups, and iCloud Drive, just as it does today, for the same price. The iCloud+ add-on will be offered to paid subscribers at the same price.
