The WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) takes place every year at the beginning of June. This year the Apple conference runs from June 3rd to 7th. Developers from all over the world meet at this week-long event to take part in training courses on developing apps and games for Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV.
The annual spectacle will open at 7 p.m. CET at the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose. At this special event, Apple CEO Tim Cook and several other executives and key figures will take the stage to inform us about important software updates in 2019. If we are lucky, Apple will also introduce some new hardware devices - but don't expect it. After all, the World Wide Developer Conference is about software, not hardware. Nevertheless, if Apple does introduce a device, it will most likely be a new monitor. There have already been some hints that Apple will introduce a 32″ display with 6K resolution in the forge – we are excited.
Bye Bye iTunes
However, the introduction of the four operating systems is considered as certain as amen in church. In addition to the new functions in iOS 13, macOS 10.15, watchOS 6 and tvOS 13, one special companion is to be discontinued - iTunes. The all-round app will be a thing of the past with the next generation of macOS. Some rumors and recent leaks have already indicated this. In addition, the well-known support site itunes.apple.com is currently being gradually replaced by music.apple.com, among other things. According to reports, Apple plans to split iTunes into several applications. There will be a separate app for music - but this will also be responsible for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch backups in addition to Apple Music.
Podcast lovers will also be able to enjoy their daily dose in a standalone application starting with macOS 10.15. Films, series and other videos will be found in Apple's revised TV app. This will logically also be available on the Mac in the future. Windows will of course also get the new configuration. iTunes was first introduced in 2001 - over time the application has often been criticized.
How to watch the WWDC 2019 keynote live
For several years, Apple has enabled all fans to be there live. Whether Mac or Windows PC, iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, there is a suitable solution for all devices. The company's own homepage provides a live stream This can be controlled from any device except the Apple TV – for Windows 10 users, Apple recommends using the Microsoft Edge browser. On iPhone, iPad & iPod touch, the stream can be accessed via Safari – alternatively, registered developers can use the official WWDC app watch – a developer account is required. Owners of an Apple TV can easily start the event via the “Apple Events” application. Of course, there is also the option of watching the event at a later date. Apple has been offering the “Past Apple Events” section on its own event page for several years. This is updated on the same evening.
