During WWDC 2019, Apple has unveiled new software also Hardwareproducts were introduced. There was already speculation - now it's official: the Apple Pro Monitor.
The new Apple display is primarily intended for professional users. The new backlight provides up to 1600 nits of brightness. The 32" monitor offers a resolution of 6015 x 2284 - according to Apple, this is a 6K Retina display. In order to offer true HDR, every single LED in the backlight is calibrated at the factory. The Pro Display XDR has an anti-reflective coating to control the reflected light. It also has a matte option that the company calls nanotexture, where the glass is etched at the nanometer level to achieve low reflectivity and less glare. The bezels are 9 mm thick.
Accessories cost extra
The entire rear grille pattern acts as a heat sink to keep the display itself cool. The screen has a contrast ratio of 1 million to 1 - the refresh rate is 60Hz. The new Mac Pro can operate up to six such Apple Pro Display XDR devices simultaneously. The stand on the display is reminiscent of the iMac G4 arm with additional rotation. The stand is optional and removable. A VESA mounting adapter is also available. The device can also be used vertically - but this requires the stand, which is available separately.
Prices and availability
The Apple Pro Monitor XDR can be purchased for $4,999. The Pro Display with nano-textured glass is available for $5,999. The Pro Stand is available separately for $999 and the VESA Mount Adapter for $199. The pre-order phase starts this fall. (Image: Apple)
