Update – 9:18 pm
The disruption in the Facebook group continues. Loud Jane Manchun Wong, Facebook's internal Workplace website and the associated services for employees are also affected by the outage today. The company then distributed a memo about the problems to employees. But what exactly caused the disruption? The cybercrime reporter Brian Krebs attributes the outage to a major DNS problem. Krebs explains that the DNS entries that tell systems how to find Facebook and Instagram "were removed from the global routing channels this morning." How this could have happened, however, is not known.
Update – 00:05
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger are slowly but surely being restarted. Users should therefore gradually regain access to the services.
