Nearly eight months after introducing the first M1 Mac, Spotify has officially released a beta version of its Mac app optimized for Apple Silicon. This means Spotify for Mac can now run natively on M1 Macs without the need for Apple's Rosetta 2 translation technology.
As the US blog MacRumors reported, Spotify has now announced an Apple Silicon version of its app. The company explainedthat the Apple Silicon version of the Mac app is still in beta and may not always work as expected:
Spotify Mac App: Noticeably smoother and faster
We've been working hard behind the scenes and are excited to announce that we now have a beta version of our app available. It includes many compatibility improvements and optimizations for the new Apple architecture. Please note that as a beta, some unexpected behavior may still occur. We will use all the feedback and information we get from you to optimize your Spotify experience.
With native support for Apple Silicon, the Spotify for Mac app should run noticeably smoother and faster on the M1 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac. Many Spotify users have been asking the company since November to create a version of the Mac app optimized for Apple Silicon. If you want to test the app yourself, you can do so on Spotify's official website download. (Photo by Unsplash / Agê Barros)
