WhatsApp will soon receive a new update that will change or expand the calling function. This is according to a current beta.
The well-known WhatsApp blog WABetaInfo has identified a change in the latest test version - for both iOS and Android - that is intended to increase the limit on the number of participants in audio and video calls. Up to now, up to four people can take part in such a call. It remains unclear to how many people the limit will be increased, as this is not yet clear. But that's not all. In parallel with increasing the limit, WhatsApp seems to be striving to change the user interface for calls.
Update could be released soon
The company plans to place greater emphasis on end-to-end encryption. This means that users should immediately notice that their phone calls are encrypted throughout. Since both changes are already available as beta for both platforms, the final update should be available for all users soon. A specific date cannot be given, of course, but the whole thing should be rolled out in just a few weeks. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, it would not be entirely unlikely that WhatsApp would hurry up at this point. (Photo by Remains / Bigstockphoto)
