WhatsApp will officially stop supporting the iOS 10 and iOS 11 versions of Apple's mobile operating system. Starting this fall, the messenger will require at least iOS 12 or higher.
After October 24, 2022, iPhone users running iOS 10 or iOS 11 will no longer have access to WhatsApp. This means that mainly owners of iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C devices will no longer be able to use the encrypted chat service after that date.
WhatsApp will require iOS 12 in the future
WhatsApp already states in its Help Center that it currently offers official support for iOS 12 or later. This means that iPhone models such as the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S will probably continue to be fully supported for the foreseeable future. Users who update their iPhone and want to use the app after the above date can back up their WhatsApp chats to iCloud and restore their chat history to a newer, supported device.
