WhatsApp has recently added many new features to its platform. Soon, users will have a new option for managing groups.
More specifically, the popular messaging platform is testing a new feature for expiring groups. As the name suggests, the new option will remind users to delete a group after a certain period of time. Imagine you need to create a group chat for a specific event, like organizing a birthday party or inviting your friends to dinner. After the event, the group may no longer be needed, but it will remain until the admin deletes it or all members leave the group.
New group function is currently under development
With the new feature, administrators who created the group can set a deadline for deleting it. Currently, the beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone offers the option of expiring groups after a day, a week or a specific date. After this deadline has passed, WhatsApp asks the user to delete the group - this does not happen automatically. As WABetaInfo reported, this feature is currently under development and will be available to everyone in a future update of the app. Even in the current beta version of WhatsApp, users may not see the new "Expiring Groups" option at first.
WhatsApp continues to expand its range of functions
In addition to the expiring groups, WhatsApp has also been testing a new option that will allow users to edit sent messages, similar to Telegram and iMessage. At the same time, the platform, owned by Meta, is working on a new newsletter feature that will allow creators to send messages to a large number of users. The feature is intended to work similarly to Telegram's channels. Earlier this year, WhatsApp released an update to its iOS app that adds picture-in-picture support for video calls. This allows users to open another app without interrupting the call. Recently, users can also use the iPhone app to create their own stickers with their photos. WhatsApp is available for free on the App Store. An iPhone with iOS 12 or higher is required. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
