The blog WaBetaInfo discovered an innovation in the data protection settings at the beginning of February. Now WhatsApp has officially confirmed the important function.
Almost everyone has experienced it - you have been added to a group - often without being asked - but that is now set to stop. WhatsApp makes it possible for users to control who is added to a group. This means that permission can be given to all WhatsApp users, only contacts, or no one. If the user chooses the third option, they will receive a separate message with a link if they are invited and will have 72 hours to decide whether to join. The new function will now be rolled out step by step worldwide.
If you want to use the function, you have to access the settings within WhatsApp. Then navigate to the “Account” submenu and open the “Privacy” section. Now you can make the desired settings under “Groups”. Version 2.19.20 saw the screen lock – with this, Touch ID or Face ID was introduced into the messenger – so the screen lock activated.
WhatsApp was founded in 2009 and is one of the largest social networks in the world with around 1.5 billion users who send over 60 billion messages every day. The messenger is, just like Instagram, part of the Facebook empire.
