Many WhatsApp users have been waiting for an iPad version for years. Support was only promised a few months ago. Now there is new progress regarding WhatsApp for iPad.
Facebook has made great progress in the area of multi-device support for WhatsApp in recent months. Now reported the well-informed blog WABetainfo, according to which WhatsApp is working on multi-device support 2.0. This should also enable the connection of an iPad. According to the website, WhatsApp's multi-device function is also planned for Android tablets. At the moment, Facebook is preparing to launch multi-device support for up to four devices + a smartphone. The feature will make it possible to use WhatsApp without having to have the phone in close proximity. So explained a WhatsApp spokesperson told TechRadar:
WhatsApp for iPad: Multi-Device Support 2.0 is required
Multi-device means that users will have the same functionality available in the current public versions of WhatsApp Web, Desktop and Portal, just without the need to have your phone next to it. Our multi-device capability makes the experience immediately better for people using Desktop/Web and Portal. And it will also allow us to add support for more types of devices over time.

With multi-device compatibility, users will be able to stay connected through WhatsApp even when their phone is not nearby or when their smartphone battery is dead. Meanwhile, WABetaInfo stated that WhatsApp is definitely developing a native version of the messenger for the iPad that can run independently of the iPhone. Those testing WhatsApp beta will also be able to test the app on the iPad in a future update. However, it is currently unknown when the new app will be released to all users.
