WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging platforms worldwide, both in the private and professional sphere. Now WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow iPhone users to manage multiple accounts on the same device. This feature has already been introduced for Android beta testers and is now also available for iOS users. Find out exactly what it is and how you can benefit from it here.
Managing multiple WhatsApp accounts used to be a difficult task, especially for iPhone users. Many had to either use separate devices or resort to the WhatsApp Business app to separate professional and private conversations. The new multi-account function could solve precisely this problem. It is currently in the beta phase and offers exciting possibilities that could improve your WhatsApp usage.
What is the multi-account function?
The multi-account function allows you to use two or more WhatsApp accounts on the same device. You can set up different accounts for personal and business purposes without having to rely on the separate WhatsApp Business app. This makes it much easier to use for anyone who needs more than one account.
How does the new function work?
In the beta version 25.2.10.70 of WhatsApp for iOS, you can either create a new account or add an existing account as a "companion account". To do this, simply scan a QR code that links the additional account to your device. Once set up, you can switch back and forth between the accounts without having to disconnect the devices or apps. The special feature is that notifications, chats, backups and settings remain separate for each account. This ensures that there is no confusion and everything remains clear. Switching between accounts is seamless and does not require you to log in again.
Why is this function important?
Until now, using multiple WhatsApp accounts on iPhones was cumbersome. Many people had to use different devices or constantly log in again for each account. With the multi-account function, this effort is no longer necessary. The function is particularly interesting for self-employed people, freelancers or business people who want to have both private and professional chats on WhatsApp without needing separate hardware. This development also brings WhatsApp closer to the functionalities of other meta platforms such as Instagram, where switching between different accounts has been possible for some time.
What needs to be considered?
The function is currently in the beta phase and is only available via the TestFlight app for iOS. There is no official release date for the general public yet. However, the introduction in the beta version shows that the function will probably not be long in coming. Another limitation is that there is still no WhatsApp app for the iPad. Many users have been waiting for this extension for years, but so far there has been no news.
WhatsApp: More user-friendliness through multi-account function
WhatsApp's new multi-account function is an important step towards making the app even more user-friendly and flexible. iPhone users in particular can benefit from the ability to manage multiple accounts on one device. Whether private or professional - this makes it much easier to manage messages, notifications and backups. Although the function is currently still in the beta phase, it is a promising outlook for future developments. If you are one of the beta testers, it is worth trying out the multi-account function. For everyone else, all that remains is to wait for the official launch - which hopefully won't be long in coming. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
