WhatsApp has now officially announced new features via a blog post, including animated stickers, dark mode for Mac and the web, QR codes for quickly sharing contact information, and much more.
WhatsApp has revealed new features that will be released soon in a blog post. The announcement states:
While we remain focused on providing a simple, reliable and private way to chat with friends and family, we're also continuing to drive our product design to ensure WhatsApp remains the most useful way to connect for everyone, everywhere.
WhatsApp: Five important improvements
As the project progressed, the features were specified in more detail addressed. There are five major improvements in total:
- Animated stickers: Stickers are one of the fastest growing ways to communicate on WhatsApp, with billions of stickers sent every day. We're launching new animated sticker packs that are even more fun and expressive.
- QR codes: We're making it easier than ever to add a new contact. If you're about to meet someone new, you can scan their QR code to add them to your contacts. No more tapping their digits one by one.
- Dark Mode for WhatsApp Web and Desktop: The incredibly popular Dark Mode theme now extends to your computer.
- Improvements to group video calls: Since up to 8 people can now join a video call, we've made it easier to focus on whoever you want by letting you press and hold to maximize a participant's video to full screen. We've also added a video icon in group chats with 8 or fewer participants, so you can easily start a group video call with 1-tap.
- The status is transmitted to KaiOS: KaiOS users can now enjoy the popular feature that allows you to share updates that disappear after 24 hours.
While some of the features have already been added, more are expected to appear on all platforms in the coming weeks. AirPods Pro on special offer at Amazon – now available for 219 eurosmonthly. (Image: WhatsApp)
