Apple recently introduced visionOS 2, a major update to the Apple Vision Pro operating system. This new version brings a host of features and improvements that will revolutionize the user experience.
The announcement of visionOS 2 was a highlight of the Apple product launch and ended with a so-called Bento graphic. This representation, named after a food container divided into compartments, is Apple's method of presenting a variety of functions in a compact way. Here you can find out what new possibilities you can expect with visionOS 2 and how they will improve your user experience.

Creating spatial photos
With visionOS 2, you can create spatial photos in the Photos app. Thanks to machine learning, your 2D images are transformed into impressive 3D versions. Although it is not comparable to native photos from the Apple Vision Pro or the iPhone 15 Pro, your old photos will gain remarkable 3D depth.
Bora Bora area
Enjoy a new environment for your Apple Vision Pro. The Bora Bora environment offers you a beach scene with blue water and distant mountain views that will instantly relax you.
Multiview in the TV app
With visionOS 2, you can watch multiple games at once in the TV app. This feature, already available in tvOS and iPadOS, is now extended to the headset. You can enjoy up to five different games at the same time in different views.
travel mode in trains
A common feedback from users was the lack of support for travel mode on trains. Apple has responded and now you can use your Apple Vision Pro on trains worldwide.
New Apple Immersive Video
Apple is expanding its range of immersive video titles. These 180-degree films in 3D 8K quality offer you a unique visual experience. New content, including exciting action short films from Red Bull, is already in the planning stages.
Rearrangable home view
With visionOS 2, you can arrange the icons on your Home screen however you like. This flexibility allows you to place your apps exactly where you want them.
Volumetric APIs
Developers can now use APIs to create apps that run in a shared space with other applications. This includes dynamic scaling and attachable ornaments, making it easier to develop immersive applications.
TabletopKit
A new framework for developers that enables collaborative experiences around a table. This is particularly useful for developing board games played in a spatial computing environment.
enterprise APIs
Special APIs provide improved sensor access and more control for building enterprise apps. This includes access to the main camera, spatial scanning of barcodes and QR codes, and use of the Neural Engine.
Improvements for Mac Virtual Display
The Mac Virtual Display expands to an ultra-wide screen that wraps around the user. This feature, launching later this year, will give Mac users a larger, contiguous workspace.

New Gestures
New hand gestures let you quickly access the Home view, see the date and time, adjust volume, and check battery level. Control Center is also easier to open.
HealthKit
HealthKit, Apple's framework for health-related data, is coming to visionOS, allowing you to manage your health data even more easily.
New guest user
Guest user mode allows others to try out your Apple Vision Pro. The last guest's data is saved for up to 30 days, so the setup process can be skipped the next time you use it.
breakthrough in the keyboard
Thanks to visionOS, the Magic Keyboard or MacBook keyboard remains visible even in an immersive environment, so you no longer have to search blindly for your keyboard.

Follow your breath
The Mindfulness app adapts the visualizations in a session to your breathing rate. This supports your relaxation even more effectively.
SharePlay for Photos
SharePlay lets you share photos and spatial photos in the Photos app with other users, enabling a shared experience in a spatial environment.
mouse support
You can connect a Bluetooth mouse or Magic Mouse to the Apple Vision Pro. This is especially useful for tasks that require precise control.
AirPlay receiver
The Apple Vision Pro can now be activated as an AirPlay receiver. This allows you to view content from your iPhone or iPad directly on your headset.
