Apple rolled out macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 – an important update – to all users worldwide this evening.
Apple has now somewhat surprisingly released macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 for all users provided. According to the company, the update is intended to fix a bug that "prevents" certain Mac models from "suffering damage" when connected to third-party USB-C hubs and docks. Specifically, Apple explains that the update prevents 2019 or later MacBook Pro and 2020 or later MacBook Air models from suffering damage when used with "non-compliant third-party USB-C accessories." The update description states:
macOS Update: Has any damage already occurred?
macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 prevents MacBook Pro (2019 or later) and MacBook Air (2020 or later) models from being damaged when connected to certain non-compliant third-party USB-C hubs and docks.
Unfortunately, Apple does not provide any further information about this error, so it is unclear whether some Mac users have already suffered "damage" when using third-party USB-C hubs and docks. The update can be carried out as usual via the macOS settings in the "Software Update" area. (Photo by Yurolaitsalbert / Bigstockphoto)
