Apple started a new beta phase yesterday evening. In addition to iOS 13.4 and Co., tvOS 13.4 was also released for developers. Now the new Apple TV beta has revealed a new model.
Apple has released the first beta of iOS 13.4, iPadOS 13.4, watchOS 6.2, macOS 10.15.4 and tvOS 13.4. The new developer preview revealed some notable features, including CarKey for iOS. But now there are hints of new hardware – to be precise, it is about new Apple TV 4K models. The US blog 9to5mac has discovered a new model number in the code of the latest tvOS beta - "T1125". While "J105a" stands for the current Apple TV 4K, the Apple TV HD is listed as "J42d". Accordingly, 9to5mac believes that the identifier "T1125" stands for a prototype that is currently being tested internally.
Little evidence of new Apple TV hardware
In recent months there has only been one Notice on an update to the Apple TV series and this was viewed with great skepticism. Accordingly, today's discovery is the only usable and serious indication of an upcoming update to the Apple TV hardware. An update inside the popular TV box is likely to promote Apple Arcade titles, among other things. However, exact details on the specifications could not be confirmed.
Presentation possible in spring
But when could Apple introduce the device? A spring event is generally expected. As part of this, Apple plans to present a new entry-level iPhone (iPhone 9 - also known as iPhone SE 2) and an update to the iPad Pro series. A new Apple TV could also be presented to go with this. But given the coronavirus Apple could now change its plans at short notice. The reason for this is production. Both analysts and observers fear negative effects on production. Delivery bottlenecks would be the result. Due to this fact, Apple could postpone the event in order to be able to meet demand. Alternatively, a product presentation and later market launch would of course also be conceivable. Are you interested in the current Apple TV series?
