Apple has been rather silent on the subject of HomePod – to the surprise of many fans. But now the Cupertino-based company has updated the relevant website.
At WWDC 2019, Apple announced some new features for the HomePod - but the topic was not addressed on the evening of the keynote. But now there is news - Apple has updated the corresponding product page. According to this, some of the new features are due to appear on September 30th. Users will thus be able to access 100,000 radio stations using voice commands with the help of Siri. Three more features are due to appear as part of the update - but these will be added later in the fall. Specifically, these are multi-user support, the handoff function and the playback of so-called ambient sounds.
New model in the making?
Multi-user support allows multiple users to access the HomePod, while the Handoff feature focuses on seamlessly transferring music playback from the iPhone or iPad to the HomePod itself. According to Apple, the ambient sound includes sounds such as ocean waves, forest birds, rainstorms and more.
Is a new HomePod expected? A new version of the HomePod is expected for 2020. According to initial information, this will be cheaper than the first model, as it will only have two tweeters inside - the current model has a total of seven tweeters. The HomePod is available in black or white from Apple for 329 euros. (Photo by franky242 / Bigstockphoto)
