The development of the German Corona warning app is progressing. While the range of functions and a launch date have been discussed so far, the design has remained unknown - until today.
The German Corona warning app is being developed by SAP and Deutsche Telekom. It relies on decentralized storage and is intended to help contain the spread of COVID-19 - with particular respect for data protection and privacy. The project is open source to create maximum transparency. Images have now been uploaded to Github published, showing the app on an iPhone or Android for the first time. The structure is simple and well labeled. If the app is green, the user has nothing to fear - things are different if the app is red. In order for the application to work at all, the user must explicitly activate the "risk assessment". This is therefore an opt-in, as has already been emphasized several times.
release date in the second half of June
However, the app never accesses GPS data, so users do not have to worry about location tracking. Regarding the release date, a spokesperson beginning of the week more concrete. Accordingly, it is expected that the Corona warning app will be released at the start of the first summer holidays in Germany. Based on this, this should be June 25th. So we can base our decision on this date. It is possible that the application will be released earlier.
