Instagram's efforts to further develop the standalone IGTV application have probably not gone unnoticed by many users. Now a new feature and a redesign are intended to attract more attention.
The IGTV app seems to be making slow progress to date. That is why the developers are constantly trying to further develop the Instagram add-on. Now the company has The Verge revealed the next step. With the aim of making IGTV more popular, Instagram is now introducing a redesigned interface within the IGTV app. The focus is on promoting individual authors. When the application is opened, an overview of popular authors that the user might like appears. There is also a new section called "Discover". The report states:
Preview in the story could serve as an incentive
The "Discover" section might be the biggest change, as the app currently only shows videos from people users have already subscribed to, as well as "popular" videos. The app is currently a bit sparse. A "Discover" tab could get users to the content faster and encourage them to actually use the app.
As part of this update, a change was also made to the main application. In the future, it will be possible to post a 15-second preview of IGTV titles in your own story. Up until now, only still images could be published, which offered little incentive to watch the entire video. Whether the new features will increase the popularity of the IGTV app remains to be seen. Incidentally, most of the features will initially only be available in the USA. The 15-second preview, on the other hand, is already being rolled out here. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
