Contrary to all the rumors that circulated before the announcement of iOS 13, the new operating system is actually compatible with many older iPhone models – including a few special features.
Apple's compatible device list confirms that iOS 13 is compatible with the following iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models:
iPhone XS
iPhone XS Max
iPhone XR
iPhone X
iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 6S & iPhone 6S Plus
iPhone SE
iPod touch (7th generation)
The new iPadOS, which is essentially based on iOS 13, will also be available on a variety of older devices.

According to Apple, iOS 13, like iOS 12, will bring some significant performance improvements. iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will be faster and apps will be more economical. FaceID will also respond around 30 percent faster. At the moment, iOS 13 is available for registered developers alongside macOS Catalina, watchOS 6 and tvOS 13.
