Last week, the new Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max was introduced. Now the guys at iFixit have taken an X-ray of it.
Some people will now ask themselves what exactly is so interesting about the Smart Battery Case. Well, the answer is the new camera button. For the first time, the charging case has an integrated button that allows the user to start the camera directly in photo or video mode. It doesn't matter whether the iPhone is locked or unlocked. The special thing: the button is on the bottom left side of the case. But how exactly does it all work? This is exactly the question iFixit wanted to answer with the help of an X-ray image.
50 percent more battery life
The camera button was designed in such a way that it cannot be activated in a trouser pocket, as it is installed a little deeper and has to be pressed for longer. According to the photos, the button appears to be equipped with a narrow ribbon cable inside the case. This leads directly to the lightning port. This means that this is an electronic connection that has been implemented particularly cleverly.

The images also show the charging coil for wireless charging and the 10.9V battery, which is supposed to offer around 50 percent more battery life. All in all, the construction around the camera shutter button is the most exciting thing about this teardown. The Smart Battery Case costs 149 euros each and is available for the iPhone Pro series in sand pink, white and black, while the iPhone 11 only offers white or black to choose from.
