As part of today's updates, Apple has finally launched the new gaming service Apple Arcade - this means that users of the new operating systems get access to numerous exclusive titles when they take out a subscription.
Apple Arcade is one of the services that Apple introduced at the "It's show time" keynote in March this year. This service is the first game subscription for mobile and desktop. Users get access to a selected number of paid games in the App Store. The library currently contains around 70 games - participating developers include Sega, Disney, Devolver Digital, Gameloft, Capcom, Square Enix, Ubisoft and Bandai Namco. Apple supports development and works with the studios. Whether iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV - participating games have no advertising or in-app purchases. The games are divided into categories, including multiplayer, adventure, role-playing games and more.
The price is hot
It is currently unknown how many games each developer is working on for Apple Arcade. According to Apple, more titles will follow gradually. The game saves are stored in iCloud and synchronized with other devices - thus ensuring a seamless transition. The gaming service is available for 4.99 euros and includes a free trial month - family sharing is also included.
This is how much device memory is needed
On Monday, Apple unexpectedly opened the Apple Arcade doors to beta testers. At that time, the offer included around 70 different titles. Thanks to the pre-launch, we were able to answer an important question - how much device memory do the games require? The answer will surprise you. The individual Apple Arcade titles require very little memory.
The currently largest game in the Apple Arcade collection is called “Various Daylife” and comes from Square Enix – the title requires around 3.8 GB of free storage. In second place is the action game “Hot Lava” with around 2.9 GB. The majority of the games require less than one GB of free storage – this means that Apple Arcade even takes devices with low storage space into account – at least for now.
