Some owners of the new Studio Display are experiencing issues when trying to update Apple's monitor to the latest firmware. Some customers have been advised by Apple Support to bring their display to an Apple Store or authorized repair partner for repair.
In a growing thread In the Apple Support Forum, Studio Display owners report that when they try to update the display, they receive an error message that reads:
Apple Studio Display Firmware Update could not be completed. Try again in one hour. If the problem persists, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Studio Display: New patch could solve two problems
According to users in this thread, reconnecting the display to another Mac and/or restarting the monitor does not fix the issue. Some have been told by Apple Support to send their display in for repair. Side note: Apple's Studio Display runs on iOS and can be updated via macOS's System Preferences. Following reports of poor webcam quality, Apple has promised a new update in the future that should fix the poor camera quality.
