Rumors have already suggested it. Now it's official. Apple has introduced a new generation of iMacs in a brand new design with Apple Silicon Chip.
The redesigned 2021 iMac has an updated and sleeker design that is much more compact than its predecessors thanks to the smaller footprint of the M1 system-on-chip design. It has softer edges and a front bezel made from a single pane of glass. On the display side has The new iMac has a 24-inch Retina display with True Tone support.

Apple has also given the new iMac a major upgrade in audio and video channels, including a three-microphone array, a 1080p FaceTime camera, and increased speaker power. It also supports Dolby Audio and Spatial Audio. Equipped with Apple Silicon in the form of the M1 chip, it is, according to Apple, the fastest iMac ever. Apple says the iMac is up to 85% faster than previous models in applications such as Xcode, Lightroom, and iMovie.

It also comes with a graphics card that's up to 2x faster than previous models. In a nod to the original iMac G3 from 1998, the new iMacs come in a range of new color options including green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. On the back, it features up to 4 USB-C ports, two of which are Thunderbolt 3, as well as a new magnetic power connector. The device also features an updated Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.

It starts at $1,299 and will be available for pre-order starting April 30, 2021. Delivery of the device to customers will begin in the second half of May. The iMac is the fourth Mac to switch to Apple Silicon, following the debut of the entry-level MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini last fall. (Image: Apple)
