Spotify today implemented a new subscription plan that has been tested for about a year – the Spotify Premium Duo subscription.
Spotify has today added a fourth subscription model aimed at couples or roommates. The "Duo" model costs €12.99 (note: due to the VAT reduction, the price will be €12.67 until the end of the year) and allows two people who live together to share a subscription - for an additional charge. This means that the subscription bundles two Spotify accounts and offers all the Premium benefits at the same time. A single Premium membership costs around €9.99, which is why this option will certainly be attractive to some users. However, in order to take out the subscription, proof of address for both people is required.
“Duo Mix” – An exclusive playlist
In addition, the new subscription option offers an exclusive playlist called "Duo Mix". This is regularly updated by Spotify based on the songs that each user of the subscription listens to and likes. Duo Mix includes two versions: "Calm" for softer tracks and "Upbeat" for songs with a faster tempo. In addition, Premium Duo users can create playlists and share them with each other. Existing individual subscription members can upgrade to Premium Duo at any time without changing their existing subscription. Account, the audio history or the preferences are lost. Cancellation is also possible at any time. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
