The streaming provider Spotify has now released an extension for family subscribers. Spotify Kids was launched in fall of 2019 and is now also available in Germany.
With Spotify Kids, the streaming service wants to appeal to families with children. The feature is only available to subscribers of the Family Premium package, which is available for 14.99 euros per month. Spotify is promoting the feature among others as follows:
Spotify Kids makes it easy and fun for children to discover music and audio – alone or with the whole family.
Spotify Kids makes it easy to control what your child listens to. You can switch between songs and playlists suitable for younger or older children at any time.
Classics such as “Benjamin Blümchen” and “The Three Investigators”
The offer is in beta and is not available in every country. The extension is offered separately, however. This means that anyone who wants to use Spotify Kids has to download an additional application from the App Store (for example Download). The promise is a “child-friendly audio experience”. The app description states:
Show your child a playground for their ears with Spotify Kids. Lots of songs to sing along to, soundtracks and playlists especially for young listeners - with this app, children of all ages can discover music with ease. Included in the Spotify Premium Family subscription. Try Spotify Kids free for 3 months with a Spotify Premium Family trial subscription. Cancel at any time.
The media library currently includes 30,000 songs and 170 playlists, half of which are in German. These include “The Three Investigators” and “Benjamin Blümchen”. It is currently unknown when Spotify Kids will be completed and thus leave the beta phase. (Image: Spotify)
