Apple plans to allow iPhone and iPad users to stay on iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 even after the launch of the iOS and iPadOS 15 updates.
Apple has now officially introduced iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and Co. The corresponding preview pages have already been published. This shows, among other things:
iOS now offers a choice between two software update versions in the Settings app. You can update to the latest version of iOS 15 as soon as it's released to get the latest features and the most complete set of security updates. Or you can stick with iOS 14 and continue to receive important security updates until you're ready to upgrade to the next major version.
iOS 15 & iOS 14: Apple seems to be loosening its update policy
In previous updates, Apple has urged users to update immediately and has stopped signing previous versions of iOS to make downgrading impossible. However, it sounds like Apple plans to relax this policy in the future. This will be useful for those who are unable to update their devices due to device restrictions or requirements implemented by work organizations or schools. (Photo by Blan-k / Bigstockphoto)
