Apple released Safari 15.1 for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina late Wednesday evening, giving Mac users who are not running macOS Monterey access to the latest Safari features.
Safari 15.1 reintroduces the previous tab design that was available before Safari 15. With Monterey and Safari 15, Apple introduced a new "compact" look that changed the design of tabs and combined them with the URL bar. However, many users were not particularly fond of this design.
Safari 15.1: macOS Monterey users already have access
With Safari 15.1, Apple has reversed these design changes and returned Safari to its previous look. Those who liked the new design can still enable it in Safari settings – the old design is enabled by default. Safari can be updated on Mac devices with macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina under System Preferences -> Updates downloaded If you have macOS Monterey 12.0.1 installed, you are already using Safari 15.1.
