After weeks of beta testing, WhatsApp will finally make the new message reactions available to everyone starting today.
Recently, there have been repeated reports about “Reactions” being tested in beta. But now, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the feature will be available to everyone. He announced the news in a post on Facebook. Message reactions will be available in both individual and group chats and will allow people to add a reaction rather than posting a full reply. This means reactions won't clutter up the chat - instead, emojis will appear under the message being reacted to.
New WhatsApp feature: Respond to messages
At the moment, there are only a handful of emojis to choose from. But that will surely change in the future. If you don't see the option to react to a message yet - press and hold on a message to see the option to react. But: don't panic. It will probably take some time before the feature is available to everyone. WhatsApp is currently one of the best instant messaging apps and a real boon for anyone who needs to stay in touch with people on other platforms, especially Android. By the way, it remains unclear whether an app update is required to use this new reaction feature, so a look at the App Store shouldn't hurt in the meantime. (Photo by Natee Meepian / Bigstockphoto)
