The latest developments in the field of IT security bring good news for Apple users. The company recently released revised Rapid Security Response (RSR) updates to fix an actively exploited security vulnerability and a bug in the Safari browser. With the aim of offering a quick and efficient solution, Apple has released the iOS and iPadOS 16.5.1 update as well as the macOS Ventura 13.4.1 update.
The Rapid Security Response Updates are designed to provide iOS and macOS users with security fixes without requiring extensive software update In this case, the current updates address a serious WebKit vulnerability, so updating immediately is strongly recommended. The iOS Security Response 16.5.1 (c) and macOS Ventura Security Response 13.4.1 (c) updates are available through the standard software update mechanism in Settings. Thanks to their efficiency, these rapid updates require only a few minutes to download and a reboot to install. Once the Rapid Security Response update is successfully installed, iOS 16.5.1 and macOS Ventura 13.4.1 users will notice an updated version of their software.
Protection against security vulnerabilities: Install Rapid Security Response Update now
By simply clicking on the version in the "About" section of the settings, they will get detailed information about the installed operating system version as well as the Rapid Security Response update. If desired, the Rapid Security Response updates can be disabled on the iPhone, and there is also the option to turn off the updates on the Mac. However, there was an issue with Safari last week after the release of the Rapid Security Response updates. Some websites such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Zoom and others displayed a warning after installing the software that they are not supported by the Safari browser. To solve this problem, Apple has temporarily withdrawn the RSRs and told users how to remove the updates. The new (c) RSRs will now no longer cause problems with Safari.
