During the CES 2022 press conference, Sony revealed new details about the upcoming PSVR successor and confirmed that the headset will indeed be called PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2).
During the press conference, Sony revealed a lot of new information about the highly anticipated headset. This includes the name of the controller, which will officially be called PlayStation VR2 Sense and will feature haptic feedback, a hallmark of the DualSense controller. The latest PS Blog post states that the PSVR 2 will have an OLED display with a resolution of 2000 x 2040 per eye. The headset will also support 90Hz and 120Hz and have a field of view of around 110 degrees. Sony also notes that the PSVR 2 will include four cameras on the headset and an IR camera for controller tracking per eye. It has also been confirmed that the headset will feature controller tracking.

In addition to the new information about the PSVR 2, Sony has also announced one of the first new games announcedthat will run on the next-gen headset. Horizon Call of the Mountain, which is being developed jointly by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite Games, the latter company being acquired by PlayStation last September. There are no further details about the game yet. But Sony says the game is "being developed specifically for PSVR 2 and will give players the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of Horizon." The company has not revealed when the PSVR 2 will be released, but rumors suggest the company is aiming for a 2022 Christmas release. No images of the new products were shown.
