At the end of February, several redundancies in the area of “Apple Car” – observers saw Project Titan in danger.
Now a high-ranking Tesla employee is said to have moved to the iPhone company. Michael Schwekutsch is considered a specialist in electric drives and was vice president in the development department for batteries and drives at Tesla. His move was announced by the update of his LinkedIn profile - according to this, he is to be used for special projects at Apple.
The description and his previous area of responsibility naturally suggest the group around Project Titan. The new addition gives the Apple Car new fuel and lends more credibility to a report from the end of February. The Manager Magazin claims to have learned at the time that the Apple Car is actually a minibus and will probably be introduced in 2023.
What is Project Titan?
Initially, little was known about Project Titan. The development and construction of entire cars was considered to be Apple's original goal. As research progressed, this is said to have changed and the focus was placed on software development for autonomous driving. This was then to be incorporated into models from other manufacturers. The project itself was first documented in 2015. Now, however, Apple seems to be reviving its old plans for its own car. Analysts assume that the iGroup could possibly present the iCar in 2025 or later.
