Initially, little was known about Project Titan. The development and construction of entire cars was considered Apple's original goal.
This is said to have changed in the course of the research and the focus has been placed on software development for autonomous driving. However, a new rumor says that Apple's iCar is actually an electric minibus. Research into the company's own electric motors, batteries and other components is also said to be part of the work.
Second wave of layoffs
Now Apple has pulled the handbrake again and announced further layoffs. At the end of January, the layoff of around 200 employees was confirmed - some of whom were transferred to other departments. Apple has now confirmed to the California Employment Development Department that it plans to lay off another 190 employees. This is due to take place shortly. The application states that those to be laid off include 38 program managers, 33 hardware engineers, 31 product designers and 22 software engineers. It remains to be seen in which direction Project Titan will develop - observers continue to speculate that development will be stopped completely.
