The iPhone 13 Pro is expected to cost Apple around $20 more to manufacture than the iPhone 12 Pro, according to an analysis. Despite the lower profit margin, the device will be offered at the same starting price (iPhone 12 Pro) of $999 (€1,149).
TechInsights has subjected the new iPhone 13 Pro to a cost analysis and notedthat the latest iPhone costs around $570 due to the higher component costs for the improved camera, A15 Bionic chip, ProMotion displays, and presumably the large battery, while the iPhone 12 Pro only cost $548. However, compared to the Samsung Galaxy S21+, both iPhones are significantly more expensive to manufacture.
iPhone 13: Reports have suggested a price increase
The increase in manufacturing costs from the iPhone 12 Pro to the iPhone 13 Pro is significant but not as pronounced as the increase from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 12 last year. The iPhone 12 introduced 5G support, a new 5nm chip, and the return of flat edges. These changes meant that the iPhone 12 was around $21,000 more expensive to manufacture than the iPhone 11. In fact, shortly before the iPhone 13 presentation, it was reported that Apple would raise the prices of the iPhone 13 series due to the increased costs of chip production. However, this did not happen. Instead, Apple kept the same prices for the iPhone 13 and also introduced more aggressive subsidies for mobile operators. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)
