Rumors have already suggested it – now it's official. Apple unveiled the iPad Air 5 at the "Peek Performance" event.
The fifth generation iPad Air, which was unveiled on Tuesday at Apple’s “Peek Performance” event presented is equipped with an Apple Silicon M1 chipset that includes an 8-core CPU, an 8-core GPU, and Neural Engine cores. According to Apple, the new device is faster than its fastest competitor - and twice as fast as the best-selling Windows laptop in the same price range. In terms of connectivity, the new iPad Air model also offers 5G connectivity, eSIM support, and WiFi 6. It is available in both cellular and non-cellular models. Additionally, the fifth-generation iPad Air now features an improved 12-megapixel front-facing camera and support for Apple's Center Stage. In addition, it supports the second-generation Apple Pencil and has an improved USB-C port that enables data transfers that are twice as fast as the previous generation.
iPad Air 5 available in five colors
This port allows the iPad Air to connect to a range of accessories, from 6K monitors to external storage. Aside from the updated specs, the new iPad Air has the same general design as its predecessor. The tablet also continues to have an LCD Liquid Retina display, which does not have a mini-LED backlight.

It's available in a range of new color options, including space gray, starlight, purple, pink, and blue. Apple says the new iPad Air takes environmental sustainability seriously, featuring a chassis made from 100% recycled aluminum, 100% recycled tin in the logic board, and 100% recycled rare earth elements. The fifth-generation iPad Air starts at $599 for the base model - the same price as its predecessor.
