iOS already shows users alerts when it detects a non-genuine iPhone or iPad part, but it seems Apple wants to take the next step, this time with the AirPods.
With the release of iOS 16 RC to developers, a new feature has been discovered that will now warn the system about fake AirPods. The code, which is found in internal system files by 9to5mac found shows that iOS 16 can detect fake AirPods, which are very popular around the world. Some of these fake models are identical replicas of the original AirPods and can even trigger some system functions such as automatic pairing and battery indicator. With the new version of the operating system, iPhone and iPad users will be warned when they try to pair fake AirPods. The message states:
These headphones have not been verified as genuine AirPods and may not behave as expected.
A "Learn more" button directs users to a support article on Apple's website where they can learn more about how to identify genuine AirPods. The message also gives the user the option to "Do not connect." However, at least for now, there is no indication that Apple will block these fake AirPods from being used with iPhone and iPad. Of course, this does not affect third-party wireless headphones. The system is specifically designed to detect fake AirPods that try to spoof Apple's official protocol.
integration of the AirPods Pro 2
At the "Far Out" event, the company also introduced the second generation of AirPods Pro. In addition to the new features of the wireless earbuds, consumers can now engrave their own Memoji on the AirPods case. Based on the code of iOS 16 RC, the AirPods Pro 2 models will be equipped with a message or Memoji on the case that is encrypted in memory. This allows the system to read this message and display the customized case when the AirPods are paired with iPhone and iPad. According to Apple, iOS 16 will be officially released for iPhone users on Monday, September 12th. For iPadOS 16, Apple has already confirmed that the update will be released separately at a later date. Whether your device is compatible with the new software is compatible, you can find out here.
