With the new and more powerful Apple TV 4K, YouTube has enabled its Apple TV app to play 4K videos at 60 frames per second, instead of the 30 frames per second previously offered.
YouTube introduced 4K support for its Apple TV app in October, but playback was limited to just 30 frames per second, much to users' disappointment. Thanks to the new, powerful A12 Bionic processor, YouTube is now able to play 4K videos at 60 frames per second, as seen on Reddit has already been reported.
Apple TV 4K: Youtube Codec requires more computing power
The exclusivity of YouTube playback in 4K at 60 frames per second on the new Apple TV 4K, which started shipping to customers today, is likely due to the video codec that YouTube uses compared to other apps, which requires more processing power. Despite an updated processor, the new Apple TV has the same design as the previous generation, but includes a completely redesigned Apple TV remote. The new Apple TV remote is also compatible with older Apple TVs and can be purchased separately. (Photo by Unsplash / Alexander Shatov)
