Will the Sparkasse and Apple Pay issue finally come to an end soon? Hopefully. The financial institution made a new website available this morning.
The savings bank is now officially raising its own website Apple's payment service under the title "Mobile payments with Apple Pay". It states:
"The savings banks will introduce Apple Pay in Germany later this year and offer customers the opportunity to pay easily, securely and confidentially with their iPhone (and any Apple device that can be used for Apple Pay). Credit cards (Mastercard, VISA) will be supported at the start this year, and the savings banks are preparing the Girocard (debit card) for 2020."
Basically, the statement is repeated once again, but no specific date is given. But observers say it shouldn't be long now. In the new section, the Sparkasse also lists the requirements for using Apple Pay. Accordingly, customers must have online banking and use the Sparkasse app with pushTAN or chipTAN. A valid Sparkasse credit card is also required, of course. Such information pages usually go live shortly before the product launch. Apple Pay should therefore be launched at Sparkasse shortly.
