After updating to macOS Monterey 12.3, users are reporting problems with game controllers. Some can no longer use Xbox, Playstation or controllers from other manufacturers.
Apple updated macOS Monterey to version 12.3 on March 14. Since then, some users have reported problems with game controllers. However, the update has not affected all users negatively. In the Apple developer forums and on Reddit There are several reports from users reporting different problems. One report states that no Apple Arcade games work with the controllers, but others that are not based on Apple's GameController framework work at least to a limited extent. Reddit user cultoftheilluminai writes:
macOS Monterey 12.3: Lower-level macOS APIs could be the cause
My DualSense controller doesn't work when paired via Bluetooth after the update. The web APIs seem to work fine, for example my controller works fine when testing on https://gamepad-tester.com/. It looks like the lower-level macOS APIs are broken.
Some users suspect that another cause of the problem could be the Bluetooth connection to the Mac. Apple has not yet commented publicly on this. However, it can be assumed that the company will release a patch that should solve the problem. (Photo by cherezoff / Bigstockphoto)
