Apple is improving the migration assistant in the upcoming macOS. It will now be possible to transfer entire accounts and data from third-party apps.
Developers report a new migration assistant in the latest beta for macOS Mojave. This makes it easier for users to switch from Windows to macOS. The predecessor already made it possible to migrate contacts, calendars, email accounts and other content, including from iTunes. According to Apple, the new tool is even better. The migration assistant can now also access popular applications and transfer the complete data sets. The transfer of entire accounts is also possible.
The "Migration Assistant for macOS Mojave" must be downloaded separately. Since the tool is in a beta phase, you should only test it with sample data or create backups beforehand. The transfer is faster with a direct cable connection than with WiFi. Before starting the transfer, the Setup Assistant must be running on the Mac and the new Migration Assistant must be active on the Windows computer.
