Apple updated the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro 13″ this year. Now reports are being documented that users are having problems with USB 2.0 accessories.
Earlier this year, Apple launched both the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro 13″ updatedBut apparently there is a strange problem. Users on Reddit as well as Apple's support website report a bug with USB 2.0 accessories that are connected to one of the two devices via a hub or adapter. Strictly speaking, the accessories are not recognized in most cases. The descriptions sometimes differ greatly from one another, which is why a pattern cannot be recognized - except that it only occurs with USB 2.0. The bug also seems to occur randomly at different times.
A bug in macOS?
All kinds of devices that use USB-A are affected, including mice, keyboards and more. A fault with the hubs can be ruled out, as they are all equally affected. There doesn't seem to be a solution. Resetting the SMC, safe mode, repairing the disk utility, various user logins and reinstalling the operating system have not helped. Replacing the devices doesn't seem to help either, as some users report. It can therefore be assumed that this is a bug on the macOS side that Apple can fix in a future update. (Image: Apple)
