Owners of the new MacBook Pro (14- and 16-inch) have reported problems inserting and using some SD cards.
Some users report that the new MacBook Pro can access the SD cards but the transfer speeds seem unusually slow. Other users report that even the ability to mount the cards is inconsistent and cannot even be traced across manufacturers or models. For example, in the MacRumors forum as well as on Reddit reported this. However, there doesn't seem to be a reason why some SD cards don't work.
MacBook Pro 2021: No pattern can be seen
A forum participant named wilberforce noted that he could not find a pattern in terms of brand, size, type, format, or age. He also stated that he was able to access 100% of the cards using a third-party external card reader. Another user reports that it can take up to a minute for the device to successfully mount an SD card. Since Apple has not yet commented on the issue, it remains unknown what the cause could be. However, it is assumed that the bug can be fixed with a macOS update. (Image: Apple)
