Apple released the first beta of macOS Monterey 12.2 for registered developers yesterday evening. In addition to a revised music application, the update also appears to include the much-needed improvement in ProMotion support for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
The new MacBook Pro devices come with Super Retina XDR displays that support a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. However, when the first devices were sold, many users noticed that Mac applications such as Safari did not support 120 Hz scrolling. Although Apple released a new version of the Safari Technology Preview with supposed support for 120 Hz scrolling, this did not completely solve the problem.

However, with macOS Monterey 12.2, Apple seems to have finally fixed this problem. As Luming Yin on Twitter first noticed, the release includes smoother scrolling in Safari on the latest MacBook Pro with ProMotion. Various reports on Reddit and social media suggest that scrolling in Safari is indeed smoother with today's beta version - to the delight of users. (Image: Apple)
