Apple has now introduced a completely redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, which in the case of the 16-inch model is surprisingly thicker and heavier than the previous generation. In addition to these values, we also look at the external display support.
Apple has now officially introduced the MacBook Pro 2021 series, consisting of 14- and 16-inch models. Interestingly, the 16-inch model has increased in weight compared to its predecessor. While the 16-inch model from 2019 weighs around 2.0 KG, the 2021 version appears with a fighting weight of 2.1 KG. As far as the dimensions go, the whole thing looks like this:
MacBook Pro 16-inch from 2021
- Height: 1.68 cm
- Width: 35.37 cm
- Depth: 24.81 cm
- Weight: 2.1 kg
MacBook Pro 16-inch from 2019
- Height: 1.62 cm
- Width: 35.79 cm
- Depth: 24.59 cm
- Weight: 2.0 kg
The increase is easy to explain, however. The devices (excluding the 14-inch model, as the predecessor was a 13-inch model) have a new casing that is not only thicker but also generally heavier. There are also more ports.
MacBook Pro 2021 and external display support
But now let's get to external display support. As a reminder: The new devices have the new Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1000 nits continuous brightness, 1600 nits peak brightness, 1 billion colors and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. However, this will not be enough for some users, and there are many reasons for this.

External displays ultimately offer many more options, and Apple knows that too. For this reason, the MacBook Pro 2021 models can support up to four external displays. Users are therefore not restricted in this regard. Anyone interested in one of the models can purchase the devices from Apple starting today. pre-orderDepending on the equipment and model, costs range from 2,249 to 6,839 euros. (Image: Apple)
