After numerous rumors and leaks, it was less surprising that Apple introduced a new MacBook Air. The entry-level notebook offers great features for little money and is easy to repair.
Apple's service guidelines for the new MacBook Air were leaked to the US media. These show that the battery and trackpad, for example, can be replaced more easily than on other MacBooks. On other models, the entire top case (upper shell) must first be removed for such a replacement - a major point of criticism.
Re-glued
Although the battery modules are glued in the new MacBook, they can be removed relatively easily using a special tool. After replacing them, the glue must be reactivated. This is done using a pressing tool that is used for iPhone displays.
Incidentally, these are the same adhesive strips as those used on iPhone batteries.
Replacing the trackpad is done in a similar way. At the same time, Apple has made it easier to replace the Touch ID button, but the MacBook in question must then undergo an Apple diagnosis to complete the repair process.
This news is particularly pleasing for repair service providers worldwide. iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens praises the positive change, saying: "This is a big step forward."
