The new M2 iPad Pro appears to feature the same display and camera hardware as the previous generation iPad Pro, which launched in April 2021.
Starting with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the new Model The sixth-generation iPad Pro has exactly the same display hardware as last year's model, according to the comparison sheet on Apple's website. Both models feature a Liquid Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels per inch (264 ppi) and support for ProMotion, True Tone, Wide Color, and more. The only notable difference between the two models is Apple Pencil support for hover mode, a new feature introduced for the M2 iPad Pro.
M2 iPad Pro supports ProRes video recording
The 11-inch iPad Pro still doesn't have a miniLED display like the 12.9-inch model. Instead, the fourth-generation 11-inch iPad Pro with M2 has a Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2388 x 1668 pixels at 264 ppi, ProMotion, Wide Color, and True Tone like last year's model. The new model supports the same 600 nits peak brightness as the 2021 model. There don't seem to be any hardware changes to the cameras on the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models either. Both models have a 12MP wide-angle camera with an ƒ/1.8 aperture and a 10MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an ƒ/2.4 aperture. However, the new models support ProRes video recording up to 4k at 60 frames per second, which wasn't previously possible on the iPad Pro. However, this upgrade is likely due to the improved capabilities of the M2 chip rather than changes to the camera hardware. (Image: Apple)
